It’s absolutely quiet here in this awesome valley. The last village is a few miles away behind the mountain-range. To get here you have to cross lake Koenigsee by electric boat and take a short hike.
This little mountain-lake is called Obersee, located in the beautiful Berchtesgadener Land in Bavaria, Germany.
Although the mountains are clearly reflected in the water there are still some ripples on the lake. Have you ever been at an absolutely quiet lake with a mirror-flat surface? It gets unreal. If you stand at the shore you think there is a hole in the ground and you could fall right into the sky.
There are scenes that want to be shot. Without thinking I have to grab my camera and capture that image. But more often I have to take time and communicate with the object that draws my attention. To get in touch with it, get a feeling for it, might take one or more hours or days, even weeks waiting for weather and light just to be right. And the outcome might be completely different from my original vision. I am moved by aesthetics, the love for the sometimes hidden beauty in our world. May it be in the structure on a wall, the geometry of a building, a cute animal, a blossom in vibrant colours, a landscape in awesome light, a dramatic stormy cloudscape, or even in the decay of a faded flower – this inherent beauty can be found...
